What it is like to work here
Our team handles industrial and household sewing machines, embroidery units, fusing presses, spare parts and accessories from our Johannesburg CBD base. The work is hands-on and often varied, from setting up a machine in a workroom to checking tension, timing and stitch quality in the workshop. Some days are busy with factory repairs, other days involve helping a school, tailor or home sewer get back up and running.
We value people who show up on time, keep records properly and treat customers with respect. Because many of our clients operate in busy areas such as Fordsburg, Mayfair, Soweto, Germiston and Pretoria, being organised matters just as much as technical skill.
Roles we often hire for
As the business grows, we look for people across sales, service and support. Some roles are customer facing, while others are workshop based or involve travelling out to client sites in Gauteng.
- Sales and counter support for machines, parts and haberdashery
- Workshop technicians for servicing, repairs and machine setup
- Field service staff for on site repairs and installation work
- Embroidery support for setup, testing and operator guidance
- Stores and parts support for sourcing, issuing and stock control
- Customer support and administration for enquiries and job logging
Skills that help you fit in
We do not expect every applicant to know everything on day one. What matters is a practical approach and a willingness to learn. Experience with sewing machine servicing, motor conversions, fusing press maintenance or embroidery setup is useful, but so is a steady hand and good problem solving.
- Basic mechanical understanding and neat workmanship
- Clear communication with customers and co workers
- Ability to work safely with tools, wiring and moving parts
- Good record keeping and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a workshop or on site at client premises
If you have worked in a factory floor, alteration room, school technology department or technical trade environment, you may already have the right foundation.
How we support new team members
New staff members are shown how we handle machine intake, fault checking, servicing steps and customer updates. We also explain the practical side of working in Johannesburg CBD, where deliveries, parking and loading can take planning. In summer, heat and dust can affect machines, while load-shedding means we must manage jobs and timing carefully.
Training is part of the job, not an extra. Depending on the role, you may learn how to identify parts, prepare machines for testing, assist with embroidery setup or support workroom planning for a client who is reorganising their space. You learn by doing, but with proper guidance.
Why people stay with the team
People tend to stay where they can see the value of their work. When a machine is repaired properly, a school can carry on with classes, a tailor can finish orders and a factory can keep production moving. That sort of result matters.
We also believe in practical working relationships. You will know who to speak to, what is expected and how your role connects to the rest of the business. From Mandla Ndlovu through to the sales, workshop and support teams, everyone has a part to play in keeping the business moving.
